Former missionary from Edmond, convicted of sex crimes, wants new judge to consider retrial request

The former Edmond missionary convicted of sex crimes at a Kenya orphanage wants a new federal judge to rule on his requests to acquit him or grant him a new trial. The lead attorney for Matthew Lane Durham contends the trial judge appears to have "a deep-seated bias" in favor of the prosecution and against the defense. The attorney, Stephen Jones, is asking the judge to step down from the case. Prosecutors are opposing the request. Durham, now 21, was found guilty in June of engaging in illicit sexual conduct with six girls and one boy at an orphanage in Kenya, Africa, in 2014. Durham, who denied the offenses, is awaiting sentencing in Oklahoma City...
